Obituary in The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, South Carolina, 13 Apr 2001: Mrs. Jean Antley Reed of Lexington died Thursday, April 12, 2001. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, at St. David's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bob Byrne and the Rev. J. David Simpson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Smith, J. David Simpson III, Stanley Simpson, Jeff Langdon, Tony Fowler and Gordon Huggins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Young at Heart group. Mrs. Reed was born in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late J. W. and Anna Belle Dantzler Antley. She was a member of St. David's Lutheran Church, where she participated in the Sunday school class. She served as the secretary for the Young at Heart Group. She was a member of the Tone Chimes. She as the widow of Ted Douglas Reed. Survivors include a son, George Douglas of Gilbert; a daughter, Mrs. David (Theodora) Simpson of Chester; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Rose) Morris of Gainesvilles, Ga.; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home of Lexington. Friends may call at the residence of Douglas Reed, 1268 Lewis Road, Gilbert, and at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to St. David's Lutheran Church, Young at Heart Group and to the Tone Chimes.
