BAILEY, Amelia Hope Witt, age 74, died at Tampa General Hospital of complications resulting from cancer.

She was born in Tennessee and grew up in Homestead and Fort Pierce. She married her high school sweetheart Donald E. Bailey in 1958 and they moved to Lake Wales where they lived for 4 years. Following the short stay in Lake Wales, they moved back to Lakeland where they lived for 46 years.
Hope attended the University of Florida, Peabody College, and graduated from Florida Southern College in 1959 with a BA in Sociology. She worked as a soscial worker in Bartow, was a teacher's aide, office manager at Belk Lindsey and a homemaker.

She was an Alpha Chi Omega sister, Panhellenic member, Alum mum, Acton investment club member, First United Methodist's Women's Circle 5 member, and a life-time member of First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd Davis Witt, Ethel Christine Harris Witt Bohme, and her husband of 52 years Donald Eugene Bailey. Hope is survived by her children Hollye Lynn Bailey of Lakeland, Donnally Harris Bailey of Tampa, Andrea Bailey Payne of Lakeland, son-in-law Ted E. Payne III of Lakeland, grandchildren Alexandrea Bailey Payne of Lakeland, Teddy E. Payne IV of Lakeland, and half-siblings Tami Berry of Mt.Plymouth and John Witt of Clewiston.
