Beverly Aasness, 72 , of Fergus Falls died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, from scleroderma and heart failure at Broen Memorial Home Short Stay where she received loving care the last few weeks.

She was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Fargo, to Gustave and Mabel (Johnson) Johnson. After her mother's death, she was raised by her "Auntie" Lillian Johnson in Fergus Falls where she graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1953.

On April 25, 1955, she married Milton Aasness, Jr. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. After her girls started school, she began working as a lunch server at Cleveland Elementary School, a position she enjoyed for 20 years.

Bev was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she had served as secretary/treasurer of the Sunday school, was a member of circle and did other volunteer work in the church.

She was also a member of the Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed time spent with her family (especially the grandchildren), friends, golfing and crocheting.

Bev was known for her afghans and each of her grandchildren received many afghans. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. She was famous for her rhubarb pie and always had a family favorite treat when they frequently came to visit. She and Milt enjoyed their winter Texan friends for the past 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Auntie; brothers, Gordon, Robert, James and Kenneth; and a sister, Mary Jane Onken.

She is survived by her husband, Milt; four daughters, Pamela (Jerry) Hanson of Perham, Susan (Joel) Peterson of Ham Lake, Sharon (Jeff) Benson of Lakeville and Debra (Tom) Wynn of Bloomington; eight grandchildren, Brent (Sara) Hanson, Sara Hanson, Tiara Peterson, Malia (Mat) Lehnertz, Jenna and Jarrett Benson, Adam and Alyssa Wynn; one great-grandchild, Bennett Weisz; two sisters, Elaine Holmen of Wheeler, Ore., and Patricia Simonson of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Richard Johnson of Seattle, Wash., and John Johnson of Minneapolis; a brother-in-law, Paul (Phyllis) Aasness; sisters-in-law, Gloria Johnson, Laurel (Bud) Malmstrom, Junice (Al) Sandness, Mary Ann (Jim) Quitno, Sonja (Rich) Johnson and Carol (Al) Domke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family prefers memorials to Caring Bridge, American Heart Association and Zion Sunday School.

Visitaiton: Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
