Daniel Boyer, widely known resident and pioneer wood cutter of Elizabeth Furnace, Lancaster County, just across the Lebanon County line, passed away early today at the residence of his son, Allen Boyer, aged 82 years. He was ill for some time, death was due to paralysis. He had many relatives and friends in the Lebanon and Lancaster county regions. He was a civil war veteran, having had a fine military record during the Rebellion. He was a member of Schaefferstown Reformed Church. Aside from his son Allen, he leaves the following children: Frank and Clinton of Waldock, this county: Mrs. Amanda Siegrist, Schaefferstown: Mrs. Ida Stohler, Waldeck: Mrs. Lizzie Crick, of this city, Mrs. Sarah Ressler, Mrs. Emma Hainley, of Mt. Airy, Lancaster County; and Mrs. Mary Deuple, of Waldeck, this county; and a brother, John Boyer, of Miners Village, this county.

[Evening Report - March 17, 1924]

The son of Peter & Hannah (Druckenbroad) Boyer, in 1850 he was living with his family in Heidelberg, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, but in 1860 was a coal burner living with them in Elizabeth Township, Lancaster County.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Elizabeth Township August 9, 1862, mustered into federal service at Lancaster August 11 as a private with Co. I, 122nd Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 15, 1863.

NOTE: The regiment shown on the tombstone (22nd Pennsylvania Infantry) is incorrect, an obviously inadvertent omission of the"1."
