Born in Tazewell County on June 30, 1918, to Peter and Alta (Wilson) Ulrich, she married Edgar Zobel in Pekin on April 9, 1950. He survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Darlene of Frankfort, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dale Ulrich; and her sister, Mary Lou Conn.
Frances attended schools in Pekin and Tremont.
She was a member of the Lemonade Theater, the Tazewell County Historical Society and the Pekin and Tremont General Federation of Women's Clubs. She served two terms as president of the Illinois 16th District of the GFWC. She served as staff board member of the GFWC. She also was a past president of the Friends of the Pekin Library.
A professional photographer and studio manager, she worked in Pekin, Peoria, Chicago and Lincoln, Neb. A collection of her poems, "Go Out In Joy," has been published, and her poems have appeared in several collections of poetry. She also has authored and illustrated nine children's stories.
Her proudest achievement has been her years of presenting a slide program of the life of the monarch butterfly and the praying mantis to area schools, as well as schools in Peoria, Wisconsin and California.
In 1983, she received the Certificate of Achievement in the Arts from the YWCA.
Cremation will be accorded. Private burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
