GALVA - Carol J. Hanson, 70, of Galesburg, formerly of Galva, died at 7:47 P.M. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Thursday, July 22 at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. Rev. Ann Champion will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Puppy Fund at Galva Regional Veterinary Services.

She was born on June 7, 1940 in Altona, IL., the daughter of Lester W and Minerva M. Lindbom Hanson. She is survived by her mother, Minerva (Rev. James) Hancock of Galva, 1 sister Diane (John) Conner of Galesburg and 1 brother, Arnie (Doris "Butch") Hanson of Galva, 3 nieces, 3 nephews and 2 great nieces and 6 great nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

Carol had graduated from Galva High School in 1958. After graduation, she lived in California for several years and then returned to Galva where she worked at Gambles and then at Pearson Bros as the office manager and executive secretary until retiring in 2006. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and was an active community volunteer, especially with the Christmas Lighting Program. She was honored as Citizen of the Year for her efforts. She enjoyed her nieces and nephews and was always proud of their accomplishments.
