Funeral services for John J. Lampo, 88, formerly of East Moline, are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, where he was a member. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, where East Moline American Legion Post 227 and VFW 2056 will conduct military honors.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church.
Mr. Lampo died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
John was born Oct. 26, 1913, in East Moline, son of Jacob and Celina VandenNeste Lampo. He married Stella D. Gelande Jan. 25, 1947, in East Moline.
Mr. Lampo retired in 1973 as a baker at the former East Moline State Hospital. He was a life member of Bakers and Confectioners Union Local 36 and a member of Local 36 Retirees and East End Bolders Club.
He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, gardening, bowling and playing board games. Mr. Lampo was a WWII Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Stella; children and their spouses, Margaret Lampo Bull and Jim Bull, Port Byron, Anna Lampo Parker and Bob Parker, Manchaca, Texas, and Donald and Vera Lampo, Strawberry Point, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, A. George Lampo, East Moline.
John was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret DeJonghe;and a brother, Robert Lampo.
