Maurice A. Gelande, 71, of 1340 12th Ave., East Moline, died Tuesday, June 22, 1993, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, East Moline, where he was a member. Entombment is in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, East Moline.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to John J. Dunne Memorial Endowment of the church.

Mr. Gleande was born May 8, 1922, in Moline, the son of Cyriel and Irma DeTombe Gelande. He married Mary Schmill Nov. 13, 1943, in Luling, La.

He worked at John Deere Spreader Works until 1972 as a crane operator and went to John Deere Parts Distribution Center, Milan, until retiring in 1980.

He was a member of East End Bolders Club, East Moline Eagles 2007, United Auto Workers Local 79 Retirees, and John Deere Industrial Bowling League at Highland Park Bowl, Moline.

He enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

During World War II, he served in the Coast Guard.

Survivors include the widow; daughters, Roberta Vogler, East Moline, and Sharon Raven, Moline; a son, Charles Gelande, East Moline; grandchildren, Lisa Vogler, Grey’s Lake, Ill., Scott Gelande, Bettendorf, and Jaret Gelande, Gale and Randy Vogler and Ron Wake, all of East Moline; and a sister, Stella Lampo and a brother, Albert Gelande, both of East Moline.
