Services for A. George Lampo, 82, of East Moline, are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, where he was a member. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Two Rivers YMCA or American Heart Association.
Mr. Lampo died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
George was born June 3, 1921, in East Moline, son of Jacob and Celina Van Den Neste Lampo. He married Eleanor Gibler Aug. 25, 1942, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired Jan. 13, 1984, from the Rock Island Arsenal.
He enjoyed bowling and golfing. He had bowled with his wife in league bowl for 25 years. In later years, George loved going to the YMCA in Moline. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Eleanor Lampo; daughter, Sandra Lampo, Lisle, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Patricia Lampo, Champaign, Ill.; granddaughters, Erica Brown and Angela Hess; and great-granddaughters, Haleigh, Kiersten and Kaitlyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
