Dr. W.R Bachelor emigrated to Franklin Co., Ark, from Hardin Co., TN in about 1870. He settled in what was known as Pauline, Ark. and was the first postmaster there.

Before leaving Tennessee he was the physician in charge of the workers that built the National Cemetery at Pittsburg Landing.

He was considered a "free thinker" and was a well known author, his works included the book "Fiat Flux".
