Victor 'Joe' Rotello, 73 ROCKFORD - Victor "Joe" Rotello, 73, of Rockford passed away peacefully at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Rockford to Joseph and Marcella Rotello. He lived his entire life in Rockford, where he married Evalyn Jean Myers on June 2, 1956; she died July 26, 2005. Joe was employed as a repairman by SwedishAmerican Hospital and worked in the restaurant business for several years. He co-owned Soda Bar, owned Wright-Way Hamburgers, Rotello's Coffee House, Pepi's Catering and Sears Cafeterias. A veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Joe was a member of St. Anthony Church, St. Ambrosia Club and Harmony Singing Society. His family was his life, and his work was his passion. Survivors include sons, Victor II, Andrew "Jim" (Michele), Steve and Mike (Barb Sinclair) Rotello; grandchildren, Andrew Booth, Joe Rowlett Jr., Samuel and Thomas Rotello and Heather Lawnduski; sister, Virginia (Neil) Erickson; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also predeceased by his sister, Barbara Rotello-Schneider. Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, in St. Anthony Catholic Church, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time. The Franciscan Friars will officiate. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation also from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, with rosary at 6:30 p.m. in Gasparini & Oliveri Funeral Home, 707 Marchesano Drive.
