Mrs. Hiram Liechty dies at Berne today

Mrs. Fanny Liechty, 80, died at 1:30 a.m. this morning at the Swiss Village in Berne, following an illness of eight years. She had been in the nursing care section for the past four years.

A native of French township, she was born March 25, 1892 to John and Fanny Reiff Beitler. She was married May 12, 1919 to Hiram Liechty, who preceded her in death in 1971.

Survivors include a son, Frederick H. Liechty, of Berne; two daughters, Mrs. John (Laura) Fisher, of Scotch Plains, N.J.; and Mrs. Roger (Jane) Brentz, of route one, Berne; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Four brothers and four sisters are deceased.

Mrs. Liechty was a member of the Cross United Church of Christ in Berne.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the Yager Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, the Rev. Wilson M. Bixler and Rev. Robert L. Hegenauer officiating.

Burial will be in the MRE cemetery.
