Born in early 1878 to David and Emma Cooper of Salford, George Henry worked as a printer's assistant and a coal carter in his native city. He married Mary Alice Pye of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria in 1897; they would produce four children: Charlotte, John (Jack), David, and Ellen. In 1911, following the lead of Mary Alice's sister and her husband, George Henry would bring his family to America, settling in High Bridge, New Jersey. Presumably he worked with his brother-in-law at Taylor-Wharton until his untimely death in 1914, having been pre-deceased by his elder son Jack the year before.
