Ruby Jewel Henderson was born to the union of John Morgan and Anna Lee Hannah Littlefield in Idabel, Oklahoma on June 19, 1934. She received her early education in Oklahoma. In 1945, the family relocated to Fresno, California where she continued her education, attending Kirk Elementary and Edison High School.
Mrs. Henderson united with Deliverance Temple Church under the leadership of Bishop Butler. When Pastor Curley Green branched from Deliverance Temple and started St. John's Undenominational Church, she followed. Mrs. Henderson did volunteer work for the church and was overseer of the church kitchen. She was also a devoted and faithful worker in the mission.
Mrs. Henderson loved to cook. She was well-known in Fresno for her fantastic cakes. Ruby could cook!!! Her greatest personal pleasure was getting her nails done.
Mrs. Henderson worked for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company. She retired after nineteen years of service.
Mrs. Henderson was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She departed this life on February 4, 1998, in Fresno, California at the age of 63.
Ruby Henderson was preceded in death by daughter, Gayle Henderson-Foster; father, Johnny Littlefield; grandmother, Julia Hannah; brother, Willie James Cook, and niece, Audrey Rene Miles.
She leaves to cherish all her wonderful memories: her son, Roger C. Henderson and wife, Patricia [Canoga Park, California]; 4 daughters: Sharon L. Harris, Patricia L. Mays and husband Elbert, Edwina Collins, and Renee Thomas and husband Curtis [all of Fresno, California]; 9 grandchildren: Kevin Boney, Kendra L. Holliman, Jevel Jackson, Cardell M. Harris, Zerrick Mays and Kejuana Wilson; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Johnnie Littlefield, Jr. and Arthur Ray Littlefield [both of Fresno, California]; her sister, Juanita Martin [Fresno, California]; a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, church family and friends.
