Erma Pauline Amack, the daughter of Dillon and Hazel (Brooks) Amack (NOTE: should read REED), was born September 17, 1918 at Guide Rock, Nebraska. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 24 days.

Pauline received her formal education attending rural Webster county school and graduated from the Guide Rock High School in 1935, with a certificate in normal training. She taught country school for a year south of Guide Rock at the Red School House. On November 28, 1936 she was united in marriage with Raymond Glenn Amack at Mankato, Kansas. They lived where jobs could be found, residing in Colorado, South Dakota and Idaho. In 1942, they returned to Guide Rock to make their home and raise their family.

Pauline's personality was pervaded by a warm smile and a genuine willingness to help others. She was employed for twenty-four years with the Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud as a nurse's aid from 1970-1994. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and working with her flowers He (sic) greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for her family.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Raymond, on December 23, 2000; a sister, Velma Roe and a brother, Denzil Reed.

Left to treasure her memory are children: Charles "Garth" Amack and wife Margaret of Hastings, Nebraska; Wanda Portenier and husband Gary of Seward, Nebraska; Gerald Amack and wife Penny of Justin, Texas; and Philip Amack and wife Cheri of Lincoln, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Francis Allen of Nampa, Idaho; other relatives and a host of friends.
