Lena Marie King, of Cleveland, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at her home at the age of 82 years.

Lena was born March 18, 1927 in Leonard, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of George Joseph and Anna Lee (Stewart) Carney. As a young girl Lena was raised and received her education in Bixby where she graduated high school with the Class of 1945. After graduation Lena enrolled at Roberts Beauty College on 11th and Rockford in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lena the accepted employment at a local beauty shop and then later moved to Charo'lete's on 15th Street where she continued to work until the early 1990's; when she retired after 35 years in the business. On May 25, 1968, Lena was united in marriage to Harvey King in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following their marriage the couple continued to reside in Tulsa and in 1971 moved to their current in Westport near Keystone Lake.

Lena loved being with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed the time when they would come to her home especially during the holidays. Lena would make their favorite foods and desserts for every person. She was known to be an excellent cook and would often prepare the dishes with out any recipe. Lena and Harvey started traveling many years ago visiting places with their children in a pickup and camper. They soon upgraded to a travel trailer and traveled to every state west of the Mississippi. Lena and Harvey have both been active members of the Westport Baptist Church for many years. They were also former members of the Oil Capital CB Club.

Survivors include her loving husband Harvey of the home, two children Tina Wellman and husband Bill of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Allen King and his wife Beth of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two sisters Wanda Pann of Keifer, Oklahoma, Dolores Hoyle of California; eight grandchildren Corrie, Nicole, Ashley, Chris, Carley, Breawna, Teagan, Ashley; six great grandchildren Kylie, Caleb, Carter, Zach, Jayme, Alexis and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her one son Bobby King April in 1990, two brothers George, Jr., Jake Leon; three sisters Pauline Carney, Virginia Hollis and Juanita Carney.

Funeal services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Gowdy officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery.
