George was the son of George R. Anderson and Mary Calista Park. He married Florence Minnie Hake married on 7 May 1901. Before he married, he was a schoolteacher in Lincoln County, Kansas public schools. He later became a superintendent of the school system. The couple lived in Beverly, Kansas in about 1908. The family moved to an Army base in Oregon briefly during W.W.I. They moved to Lincoln, Kansas in about 1915 where he was a family doctor.

Anderson, well-known Lincoln County physician, died Friday morning June 30 at his own hands. His body was found Friday afternoon suspended from a bridge southwest of Lincoln. Ill health is thought to have caused his death.
When 5 years old he came to Kansas (from Illinois) with his parents, growing to manhood in the Sunny Side neighborhood where he was educated in the public schools. In May 1901 he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Hake of Harper, Kansas.
He leaves to mourn his departure his companion, Mrs. Minnie Anderson, two daughters, Gale and Virginia of Lincoln; two brothers, Oscar of Beverly and Charles of Sacramento, CA; a sister Mrs. Levi Hollingsworth of Lincoln , and a host of other relatives and friends. One daughter, Dorothy, and two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Early in his life he was converted to the Christian religion in the Sunny Side neighborhood and joined Dry Creek Methodist church under Rev. Golden's ministry, later transferring to the Lincoln Methodist Church where he was ever a faithful and consistent member. he was always in church whenever possible and always contributed generously toward its maintenance. For eight years Doctor Anderson taught public school in this county after which he attend the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Kansas City. Following his marriage he moved to Lincoln where he practiced medicine for a few months, then moved to Beverly where he practiced 4 years. He returned to Lincoln in 1915 where he has since resided. During the W.W. he entered the medical corp. at Fort Riley (central Kansas near Manhattan) in Oct 1917. He was commissioned captain and assigned to duty at Camp Lewis, WA, where he served 18 months.
Doctor Anderson will be greatly missed by both loved ones and his many friends. In this life he ministered to many as a physician and served his community faithfully in many capacities. He was a member of the American Medical Assn, the Solomon Valley Assn, and the Medical Officers Reserve Corp. He had held office in the Valley assn several terms besides serving on school boards here (Lincoln) and at Beverly. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church, Lincoln at 3 O'clock Sunday, July 2, with Rev. Roy D. Plott in charge assisted by Rev. T.H. Parrot of Russell and the American Legion Corp. Burial took place in the Beverly cemetery."
