Gerald A. Boswell Killed in 1945 in Germany--Reburial Today

Funeral services for T/5 Gerald A. Boswell of Baring, who was killed in action April 19, 1945, in Germany, were conducted at 10 o'clock this morning at St. Aloysius Church in Baring by the Rev. Stephen Carew, pastor of the church. Burial was in the St. Aloysius Cemetery there. Military rites were in charge of the Knox County Memorial Post 4822, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Gerald Anthony Boswell, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Boswell of Baring, was born Feb. 20, 1914. He was graduated from Baring High School with the class of 1932, and on June 28, 1941, he entered the army at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis. After receiving basic training at Camp Polk, La., he went to an Armored Forces school at Fort Knox, Ky., and was graduated from a radio school there on Oct. 5, 1942. He later was stationed at Camp Young, Calif., Camp Pickett, Va., and Indiantown Gap, Pa., and was sent overseas from the latter place in September, 1943. He was stationed in England, receiving more training there until the invasion of France on June 6, 1944. The following letter was received by Mr. and Mrs. Boswell after their son's death: In grateful memory of Technician Fifth Grade Gerald A. He stands in the unbroken line of patriots who have dared to die that freedom might live, and grow, and increase its blessings. Freedom lives and through it, he lives--in a way that humbles the undertaking of most men. Harry S. Truman, president of the United States of America.
