Thomas Hopewell Hargreaves was the son of Christopher Hargreaves and Priscilla (nee Gibbs) Ward, and the brother of twin John Hargreaves and older sibling Abraham Hargreaves; husband of Nancy Beverly. Father of known chidren, Priscilla (Booth), Thomas H. "Hope", Mary (Wm. Herrin), Sarah (James D. Brantley), William Beverly, Adaline Eliza (Matthew "Mack" Herrin), Alice Matilda (Joel S. Dukes) and Elizabeth "Betsy" (David M. Bennett).

Inscription

The grave marker placed at a later date says "Born in England", but Thomas was born in South Carolina, the son of Christopher Hargreaves and Priscilla (nee Gibbs) Ward Hargreaves. It was Thomas' father that was born and died in Colne, England.

Gravesite Details

This is the oldest marked grave in the cemetery (May 1860)and is center to all other burials in the original section. The next known marker is Jerucia Beverly (Apr 1870). Surveyed 2002-2004 by Betty Hargraves Miakinkoff; 2011 by Jerry Van Herrin.
