La PORTE - William L. Arvesen, 82, La Porte, died at 8:40 p.m., on Thursday (Oct. 23, 2008) at La Porte Hospital.

Mr. Arvesen was born December 28, 1925 in Gary, to Harold and Blanche (Curry) Arvesen. On April 23, 1949 in Hammond, IN., he married Geraldine C. Broderick who survives.

He retired as an electrician for Meade Electric in Hammond, Ind., prior to that he was a manager for Kroger's. He was a W.W. II Navy veteran having served in the South Pacific. A member of the Knights of Columbus and Hobart Elks Club. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.

He leaves behind his wife, Geraldine, La Porte, two daughters, Kathleen (David) Meinhard, Brunswick, Ga., Kimberly (Steven) Kessler, Phoenix, Ariz., one son, Kevin (Lisa) Arvesen of Jasper, Ind., five grandchildren, Kate Malstaff, Patrick Malstaff, Lauren Arvesen, Bryant Arvesen and Layn Witte. A beloved sister-in-law, Joanne Broderick and sister-in-law Sarah Arvesen, also, two aunts, Norma Middleton and Jean Croll.

He is preceeded by his parents and one brother, Harold Arvesen.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a..m., Monday, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Angotti officiating. A Rosary service will be held Sunday, October 26th. At 2:00 P.M., with Rev. Joseph Angotti officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, continuing Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at Essling Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Monday, following the service. A La Porte Honor Guard Military Service will be held at the graveside.
