Louise Aiken Hefner, 85, of Nebo, NC died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born in Union Co., SC on October 6, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harding Aiken and Florence Aiken. Louise was a member of Snowhill United Methodist Church and worked at Broughton Hospital for thirty years. She loved animals and took in any strays.

A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her sons, Mike Hefner of Morganton and Albert Hefner and wife, Linda, of Chesapeake, VA; a step-daughter, Dorothy Lee of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Matthew Hefner of Morganton, Mitchell Hefner of Morganton, Rita Viola and husband, Sam, of Chesapeake, VA and their daughter, Tori Schumacher, and Richard Hefner and wife, Jennifer, and their family, of San Diego, CA.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Winfred Hefner, and sisters, Bertie Farmer and Beulah Amaker.

The funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Magnuson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Fairmont United Methodist Church Cemetery in Spartanburg, SC. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 43, P.O. Box 572, Morganton, NC 28680.
