George Allen Abbott Passes Away Nov. 19 After Long Illness
George Allen Abbott, brother of Mrs. George Duvall of this city, and native resident of Colorado, died at a convalescent home at 147 Irvington Place. Denver, Wednesday morning, November 19, after an illness which extended over several years. He was 58. Mr. Abbott was born in Golden, March 10, 1883, son of the late Samuel and Frances Abbott, pioneer residents of this city. He made his home here for many years and received his education in the Golden schools. Until he was taken ill two years ago. Mr. Abbott was employed as foreman on a cattle ranch in the Steamboat Springs area. He was single. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge at Steamboat Springs. Besides his sister, Mrs. Duvall, he is survived by another sister, Mrs. Della Abbott Merritt of Melvin, Ill.; and a brother, Frank Riggs Abbott of Wilmore, Calif. Funeral services will be held from the Woods Mortuary chapel at 2:30 o'clock. Friday, November 21, with Rev. L. G. Dawson officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in the Golden cemetery.
