Mr. Miller died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Bob was born June 26, 1925, in Sterling, the son of August and Rheta "Effie" Magner Miller. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Doris Swanson on Dec. 21, 1944, in Davenport.
He retired from the Army Weapons Command, Rock Island Arsenal, in 1980, after 35 years of service. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church, East Moline, and Pheasant Runners Camping Club. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Doris Miller, East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Miller, Indianapolis, Ind., Bonnie and John Van Houtte, Colona, Cindy and Brian Hodson, Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Pam Miller, Silvis; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Etta Mae Fisher, Silvis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Don, Bill and Orville Miller.
