Graveside services for Otis Rodney Boyte will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, at Rogers Cemetery in Buckhorn, Texas.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Schmidt Funeral home in Bellville, Texas.

Mr. Boyte was born June 13, 1954, in Hobbs, N.M., the son of George and Hazel Richardson Boyte. He grew up Mississippi and attended schools in Brookhaven. Otis moved to Texas in 1979, where he made his home in a small country community in Austin County, Buckhorn, Texas.

Otis was united in marriage to Rose Rogers in the First Baptist Church in Bellville, in 1982. He worked as a driller and top drive specialist in the oilfield industry. He enjoyed playing dominoes and horseback riding in Texas and the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina, but the love of his life was his family.

Otis passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in Bellville at the age of 56.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Rose Boyte of Buckhorn; his son, Jesse Boyte of Bellville; his daughter, Nicky Boyte of Hutto; his grandson and light of his life, Jacob Rodney Fitzpatrick; his mother-in-law, Helen Rogers of Buckhorn; his brother, Terry Boyte of Robbinsville, N.C.; his sister, Kay Boyte of Brookhaven; his cousin, Debbie Rushing of Brookhaven; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and dear friends.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary pallbearers are Les Evans, Jack Turner, Jack Fitzpatrick, Glen Toman, Bill Vanderende, Benny Rushing and Martin Cabell.
