Edna Evadne Mausehund was born March 25, 1919, the daughter of Herbert and Edith Benedict. Edna and her twin sister, Elma, were raised on a farm 10 miles east of Hazelton, N.D. Edna graduated from Hazelton High School, and Christie Beauty School in Bismarck. She operated a beauty shop in Hazelton prior to her marriage to Verl Mausehund on Dec. 1, 1937.

They made their home on the Mausehund family farm. Verl died on Sept. 26, 1995. Edna continued to live on the farm, until October 1996, at which time she moved into Linton. In October 2000, she became a resident of the Strasburg Care Center.

During her life, Edna was involved in many activities. She was a charter member of the first 4-H Club ever founded in Emmons County. After serving as a 4-H leader for 20 years, she was still involved in 4-H by serving in judging events at both the county and district levels. Edna helped organize the Hampton Homemakers Club, and was a member since 1951. She was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1938, and was active in both the United Methodist Women and her circle since 1951, and served in many offices.

Edna was a charter member of the Emmons County Historical Society, and was the club's secretary for many years. She was a member of Eastern Star from 1941 to 1998, when her ill health made the trips to Steele for meetings impossible.
