OBITUARY

THE CHARITON HERALD
Chariton, Iowa
Friday, May 18, 1894

Mrs. Lucinda Kendall, wife of E. L. Kendall, died at her home in this city Wednesday evening, May 9, about 7 o'clock, of a complication of diseases, at the age of 66 years.

Her illness was of several months duration, and although her death was not unexpected, yet the blow is a severe one to the husband and children who are bereft of a loving and devoted wife and mother.

Deceased was born in Hendricks county, Indiana, May 10, 1828, and came to Lucas county in 1853, first settling in Washington township, and moving to Chariton about fifteen years ago.

She was married twice, first to Mr. Mahan, and to them two sons were born, who are now living in Nebraska. In 1867 she was married to Mr. E. L. Kendall, who, with one son, N. E. Kendall of Albia, survive her. Two sisters living in this county, Mrs. Taylor of Washington township and Mrs. J. A. Smith of this city also mourn her death.

Mrs. Kendall was a woman who was admired for her true worth, and was respected and esteemed by all who knew her. To the husband, who mourns the loss of a dear companion, and to the sons, who have been tenderly reared by a good mother, we extend our heartfelt sympathy in their great sorrow.

Funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased on Friday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. I. H. Fuller, and the remains interred in the Chariton cemetery.
