In 1869 Andrew J. Allison purchased a farm near Hillside, in Derry Township; He and his wife Susannah by hard work made the farm successful, raising 6 children. Andrew J. Allison served in the Army of the Potomac, Company E, 211th Regiment, PA Volunteers. Andrew, his wife Susannah, and son David V. share the same headstone, with David's inscription on the side. They each have their own footstone. A small white monument is next to Andrew's grave, reading "G.A.R. (U.S. Military) #1048".
