Betty L. Shankle, age 84, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Greenwood, Arkansas. She was a grocery clerk, a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartford, Arkansas, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fayette Shankle.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Hartford with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, Arkansas. Visitation and viewing were held from noon until service time at the church.

Survivors include one daughter, Pam Roberts, and her husband, Mike, from Fort Smith, Arkansas; two brothers, Billy Pickle, from Perryville, Missouri, and Franklin Pickle, from Atkins, Arkansas; two sisters, Wanda Perry, from Hartford, Arkansas, and Coleta Ludwig, from Farmington, Missouri; and three grandsons, Ron Briscoe, from Mansfield, Arkansas, Brandon Roberts, from Mansfield, Arkansas, and Brian Roberts, from Greenwood, Arkansas.

Pallbearers were Ron Briscoe, Brandon Roberts, Brian Roberts, Bob Rosso, James Hammonds and Rowdy Claphan.
