John Reginald Whittaker and his wife Victoria C. Pascale Whittaker (1892-1967) had a homestead at Hampton Butte near Dry Lake, Crook County, Oregon in the early 1900s. They were both born and raised in Nebraska. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, to become a pharmacist. Reg was a school teacher at a one-room school house near the homestead and later worked as a teacher at a Klamath Indian reservation near Beaty, Oregon, during the Great Depression about 1930 and again in 1940 in Bend, Oregon. From about 1945 until 1950 he worked in various positions at the Shevlin-Hixon lumber mill on the Deschutes River in Bend. He later served as the Deschutes County deputy county assessor until his retirement about 1960. Reg and Vickie lived on Harmon Boulevard in Bend, Oregon for many years. Reg walked to work each day through Drake Park and walked home and back for lunch. He and Vicki had two children: John Boice Whittaker (1913-1932)and Muriel Mae Whittaker Richens (1917-2006).

There is no marker. Reg Whittaker was cremated and his ashes disposed of in California as instructed by his daughter, Muriel.
