He built a successful business - "Alvin Dodd's Plumbing Heating and Air" - with his work ethic, determination, and most importantly his love for helping people.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Florence Schexnayder Dodd; two sons, Alvin, Jr. and Craig Dodd; four daughters, Susan Dodd Albert, Deborah Dodd, Donna Dodd Deffes, and Kim Dodd; two daughters-in-law, Mari Horras Dodd and Kathleen Lagarde Dodd; two sisters, Mary Gainey and Sharon Rusk; and brother Jimmy Dodd. His pride and joy was his 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Keith John Dodd; his mother, Gladys Estelle Cofield Dodd; his father, Sherman Curtis Dodd; two brothers, Braxton and Rubel Dodd;
and three sisters Juanita Dodd, 1946-1998,
Frieda Harrison, 1927-1992
and Sinda Olah, 1938-2007.
Rev. David Blackwell will officiate the services and interment will follow in the Hungarian Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Albany.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice, Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Karen with Vital Link Home Health Care, the staff of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, and most importantly Gerald and Brenda Banta.
