Obituary
Isaac Ridout was born in Delaware county, Indiana, August 27, 1845, and passed to the great beyond May 30, 1934, at the home of his son, Charles Ridout, near Orting, Wash.
He was married to Malinda Dawson, who preceded him in death, in 1903. To this union seven children were born, four sons and three daughters, all of whom are living, Francis W. Ridout, Clara E. Logsdon, Ida J. McClurg, Laura M. Bruce, Charles W. Ridout, Webster R. Ridout and Robert B. Ridout, all residing in the state of Washington. There are also twenty-five grandchildren.
Isaac Ridout served in the Civil War, enlisting in Company H, 7th Iowa Cavalry in October 1864, and was mustered out after the close of the war on November 30, 1865. After the war he came to this state, and fifty years ago took up a homestead and hewed out of the forests a home for his family. In 1902 he retired from ranch life having followed that occupation for thirty two years. During an illness, following the loss of his wife, he was a resident of the Soldier's Home, where he leaves a host of comrades who will miss him greatly.
During the early pioneer days he went out to meet the Indian uprisings with enlistment in an Oregon state artillery.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church at Orting, Saturday, at 11 a.m. with Rev. J. T. McQueen officiating. Burial was held in the State Soldier's Home cemetery, Orting, under the direction of M. R. Walker.
