Mary Eloise (Nott) Hendrix, age 72 of Parker, CO, lost her battle with cancer on November 3, 2009.
Her services will be November 14, 2009, at Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada, CO at 1 p.m. with Reverend David Ahlman officiating.
Burial will be at Dix Cemetery on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Dix, NE.
She was born October 1, 1937, in Kimball, NE, to Llera and Gardner Nott of Dix, NE.
Siblings included Hazel Marks, Linda Aulston and Dolores Merrifield. Mary attended a one room country school during her early elementary years then graduated from Dix High School.
After completing high school she worked for Coop Oil in Kimball as a bookkeeper, where she met her husband Glen Hendrix.
Theirs was the first marriage in the new St John's Lutheran church in Kimball, NE, on August 18, 1957.
Mary and Glen made their home in the Kimball area where they had two children, Glendene (Gigi) and Randy.
In 1971 they moved to Last Chance, CO, where they purchased a small farm and remained until 1982.
In 1982 they moved to Denver where Mary started working for American School Food Services. She enjoyed planning large events and had the luxury of traveling to different parts of the United States.
Mary enjoyed history and was able to see many historical sites on these trips.
After moving to Denver her first grandchild was born. Mary spent an enormous amount of time enjoying and making things for her granddaughter Ashley Wadley.
In the early 1990s Mary suffered from two cerebral hemorrhages and was forced into retirement. She kept herself busy with church activities and crafts but further joy was brought into her life in March of 1995.
Her first grandson, Ayrton Hendrix was born.
Mary lost her husband in 1997 and then spent several years volunteering at Peace Lutheran church. She was instrumental in getting many programs started there such as the spiritual gift giving.
Mary was very generous with giving her time to others in the church and developed many good friendships.
Once again joy came into Mary's life in March of 2004, her second grandson was born, Alex Hendrix.
She is preceded in death by her father, Gardner Nott, mother, Llera Nott, husband, Glen Hendrix and a sister, Hazel Marks.
Surviving are her two children, Glendene (Gigi) Wadley and Randy Hendrix, son-in-law Barry Wadley, daughter-in-law, Amy Hendrix, three grandchildren, Ashley Wadley, Ayrton Hendrix and Alex Hendrix, two sisters, Linda Aulston and Dolores Merrifield and many nieces and nephews all who loved and was thankful to be in her life.
