Wilma "Chris" Christine Watkins, of North Charleston, entered into eternal rest July 26, 2010, surrounded by her daughters.

She was the daughter of the late Fred S. Swing and the late Ada Marie Price Swing of Lexington, NC.

Chris had an incredible love for her family. She gave up her life to raise her six girls, and they always came first. She loved spending time with her daughters.

She never met a stranger, and would strike up a conversation with anyone...trash man, meter man, it didn't matter. By the time the conversation was through, she knew at least two things for sure...Where they were from and whether they were married or not.

Chris loved baseball and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. It didn't matter how bad she felt or how sick she was; if the Braves were playing, she was watching. She would dare you to touch the remote if a game was on. Chris would always call her daughters or grandchildren to see if they were watching the game and would give them updates on the score. Throughout her life she played and coached softball and was an avid bowler. Chris was always involved in the community sports program. During the early 1970s she was the Commissioner of the Pepperhill Youth Athletic Association program in North Charleston. Chris had a love for music. Every morning you could go into her bedroom and she would be watching VH1. She would talk about top hits and artists, and half the time her girls didn't even know who they were. Chris always spoke her mind. What she was thinking was exactly what she was saying. Her family called her "Hedge" because they said she never beat around the bush. And she DIDN'T! You knew exactly where you stood with her.

She is survived by her daughters, Allie Rood (Steve) of Milford, NH, Patrice Wilkinson (Kenny) of North Charleston, SC, Misty Ferguson (David) of North Charleston, SC, Bonnie Shuler (Eric) of Shulerville, Crissy Clifton (Curtis) of Goose Creek, SC, Belinda Watkins of North Charleston, SC, and her daughters stepbrother, Todd Irick (Louann) of Summerville, SC; brother, John Swing of Winston Salem, NC; 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Price Swing, Ted Swing, Ronnie Swing, and Paul Swing; sisters, LaVonda Gilliam, and Pat Swing; grandson, Kenneth Wilkinson; and great-grandson, Kyle Alderman.

Interment was in Carolina Memorial Park.
