Funeral services for Fred Harold Souder, 74, of 113 Freeman St will be held at 2:30pm today in the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Peace Chapel with the Rev Robert Hett and Dr Shirley Donnelly officiating. Burial will follow in the American Legion Cemetery. He died at 2:28 pm Thursday at a local hospital. Born Dec 29,1896 at Ansted, he was the son of the late James I and Lula B Hendrickson Souder. A member of the Beckley First Baptist Church he was a retired barber and owned shops in Pax, Charleston and Beckley. He was a veteran of WWI, a member of the VFW and served in the America Legion as a past commander for Post 32. An active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, he was also a member fo the local Barbers and Beauticians Union. Survivors include his wife Mrs Christine Sullivan Souder, a son David Ross Souder at home, a stepson James Von West II San Antonio TX, two daughters Mrs Joseph Paffe, Pensacola FL and Mrs Griff L Lynch II Thousand Oaks CA, three brothers HC of Mt Hope, JW of Pikeville KY and Eugene Souder of Beckley, four sisters Mrs Campbell (Mabel) Slemp, Mrs Clifford (Eloise) Meadows, Mrs William (Floretta) Smith and Mrs John (Maxine) Whitlow and 16 grandchildren.
