I was born in Milford, Utah on November 14, 1924 to Alma H. and Oscar E. Frahske. I lived my early years on a homestead on the Escalante Desert near Lund, Utah. I married Merle E. Burns on October 24, 1979. He passed away on February 11, 1993.
I ask to be cremated so I ask to have no funeral or graveside service. I have had a great life and many wonderful friends. I hope you can remember me with kind thoughts."
Fay pursued a career in nursing after attending school at what is now SUU and worked as a chemist. She graduated from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Salt Lake City in 1954. After earning her Masters degree at University of California, San Francisco, she had an illustrious career in nursing. She was director of nursing at Shriners Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, nurse educator at Holy Cross and initiated and directed the nursing program at the College of Southern Utah (SUU). She was a member of USNA and the Utah State Board of Nursing.
Fay was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edward. She has no known living relatives, but many friends who love and admire her. She loved her home of 17 years in Kanarraville, and cherished her friends there, and at church, and throughout the west. Known for her lovely needlework, many have items to cherish.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar City where she was an active member. The service is at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. It is requested there be no flowers. Remembrances may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, 410 E. 1935 North, Cedar City, UT 84720. Cremation and arrangements under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
