George Vrtatko, 74 of Dix died on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at Bull Head City, Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kimball with the Rev. Robert Karnish as celebrant. Burial will be in Dix Rural Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 27 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thurs. from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. He was born June 13, 1928 in Kimball a son of Rose and Frank Vrtatko. George attended Dix School and graduated from Kimball County High School. He lived his entire life on a farm south of Dix building his own house in 1962 with his wife Ellen Mary (Svitak) whom he married October 8, 1955 at St. John's Catholic Church in Howells, NE. George is survived by his loving wife Ellen of many years, two sons, James Vrtatko of Dix and Rodney and daughter-in-law Chris (Stahla) Vrtatko, and three grandsons, Michael, Trustin, and Jonathan all of Pine Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rudy and an infant brother Emil.
