Lester was born on March 19, 1910 in Wards Mills District of Holmes County, Florida. He was the first born son of Marvin and Stacy ( Retherford) Curry. At the time of his birth Lester's father was working at a saw mill.
On 1920 Census Lester had 3 brothers, Buford, Henry and Huston, and his father was farming.
In 1929, Lester was 19 years old. Lester was married that year to Pansy Anita Hughes.
The following year in 1930, they had their first child and named her Clara Belle. Lester was working in a Green House in Lee County, Florida.
On 1935 Census, Lester and Pansy now have a 2 year old daughter, Angelee, and a son Earnest, who was just born that year. Lester is working for a nursery. Sadly, Lester & Pansy lost their baby son. Baby Earnest died before reaching 5 months old.
