Keosauqua, Iowa - Death came this morning to Ray Archibald, 70, former grocery store owner at Floris, Iowa, and a resident of Keosauqua for the past five years.
He passed away about 7:45 a.m. at his home after an illness of several months.
Last rites will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Baptist church at Floris with the Rev. Harold Day of Ottumwa in charge, Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Floris. The body is at the Burnett-Catcott funeral home in Keosauqua.
Ray Archibald was born March 30, 1887, in Davis county, Iowa, the son of the late Robert and Matilda Clinkenbeard Archibald. He was united in marriage on May 6, 1907, to Ethel Henderson who survives. The wedding took place in Davis county.
Archibald operated a grocery store in Floris for 31 years until he retired five years ago and moved to Keosauqua.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Paul, who resides in Bloomfield; and Walter and Carl Archibald who are on the grocery business on Keosauqqua. He is also survived by a brother, Ed Archibald, Almena, Kansas; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
