Virginia Lee Strickland, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010. She was born on Nov. 27, 1922, in Cedar Hill, to the late Bishop and Nancy Wigington.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Carol Stewart and husband, Mike, of Port Lavaca; son, Tom Strickland and wife, Linda, of Evergreen, Colo.; brother, Don Wigington of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Tonya Griffith, Cynthia Stewart, Ashley Perillo and Kimberly Storm; and two great-grandsons.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Strickland, and her brother, James Eldon Wigington.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, at Alamo Heights Baptist Church. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Monday, March 15, at Alamo Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Smith and Rev. Dewayne Wise officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, at Lockney Cemetery in Lockney, Texas.

Grace Funeral Chapel, 1604 W. Austin, Port Lavaca, 361-552-1705 is in charge of arrangements.
