Sterling Price Clark was Sheriff of Tarrant County for three consecutive terms from 1897 to 1902 and again for one term from 1919 to 1920. He was born while his father, Presley Clark, was serving in the Confederate Texas 6th Cavalry, under General Sterling Price, commander of Confederate forces west of the Mississippi River. When Presley returned from service in 1862, he named his son after his commanding general, Sterling Price.
