107. ANDERSON SMITHERS
was born in Wythe County about 1843 to Stephen and Nancy Smithers. He Joined the army July 25, 1861 and with the exception of one or two stays in the hospital, served with
the company until he was wounded May 16, 1864 at the battle of Drury's Bluff, being wounded in the left elbow. He was detailed to work in the Lynchburg hospital in January 1865 after he recovered In as much as he was considered physically unfit for service six days after Lee surrendered. He married Susan Davis in 1866.
