American football and baseball player, coach, and Major League Baseball manager. Served as manager of the Boston Americans (now Boston Red Sox) in 1907 for 8 games, winning 2 and losing 6 games. He was associated with the University of Illinois from 1895 until his death in 1936. He served as the universities athletic director for 35 years. Huff was the head football coach at the University of Illinois from 1895 to 1899, compiling a record of 21–16–3, and served as their baseball coach for 24 years. He died from uremia following surgery to remove a stomach obstruction. His grave marker is lined up with the 50 yard line of the University of Illinois's football field at Memorial Stadium.
