Leo was the third son of William Thomas & Ida M. Dunham French. Leo married Essie Olive Wansten where they had five children, Russell William, Dorothy Marie, Kenneth Charles, William Lee, and Robert James. He spent most of his adult life in Southern part of Michigan as a house painter. When He knew he was dying He moved to Venice Beach, Los Angeles County, California to be with is sons and daughter. He died due to Cirrhosis of the Liver. His body was cremated and buried at GrandVille Memorial Park in Glendale California. His grave is the same grave as his son Kenneth Charles.
