WILLIAM WILBURN SWINK
December 9, 1867 ~ October 31, 1934

On Oct 17, 1934, Will and his son, Randall were shot by tenant farmers while collecting rents. Randall died that day, and although Will was brought to St Joseph's Hospital in Paris, Texas, he died several days later from gangrene.

W. W. SWINK DIES AT PARIS, TEXAS THIS MORNING
Was Shot By Negro Three Weeks Ago South Millerton

W. W. Swink of Valliant, died at the Sanitarium of Paris this morning (Wednesday) where he was carried two weeks ago for treatment for gunshot wounds. Mr. Swink was shot by Wallace Hammick, a Negro, on the Swink plantation south of Millerton about three weeks ago. His son, Henry Swink, was shot and killed by the Negro.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete as we go to press, but will probably be held at Valliant Thursday. A Chappell Funeral Home coach went to Paris about noon to return the body here to be prepared for burial.

Mr. Swink is survived by his wife. one son, W. E. (Bill) Swink, Broken Bow, and three daughters, Mrs. A. L. Edmiaston, Paris, Texas; Mrs. Ida Mae Gregg, Paris, Texas, and Miss Irene Swink, Valliant.

Mr. Swink had lived in the county many years and was well known. He owned a large farm south of Millerton and spent most of his time there.

W. W. SWINK PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY

W. W. Swink died at the Paris Sanitarium Wednesday afternoon at 12:15. He was taken to the hospital two weeks ago when his condition became serious.

Mr. Swink was wounded in the arm and back three weeks ago when Wallace Hammick, a negro tenant, shot and killed Henry Swink.

Hammick was killed by officers near Hugo when he attempted to escape.

The deceased is survived by his wife, a son, W. E. Swink, Broken Bow; three daughters, Mrs. A. L. Edminston and Mrs. Ida Gregg, Paris, Texas; and Miss Irene Swink, Valliant.

Funeral services will be conducted at Valliant, Friday at 3:00 p. m., with Rev. Barnard Franklin of Broken Bow officiating.
