Ralph W. Peachee was born January 13, 1930 in Mt. Auburn, Iowa: the son of George Ora and Mildred Thelma (Reddington) Peachee. He attended Dysart Country Schools and graduated with the class of 1948. He joined the United States Army and served as a Corporal during the Korean War. Ralph was united in marriage to Joyce Marlene Steepleton on October 18, 1951, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids; she preceded him in death on March 17, 2005. He was employed at John Deere as a Pattern Maker from 1948 until his retirement, after 39 years, in 1987. Ralph was a member of Saint Edward Catholic Church, the VFW and American Legion in La Porte City.
Ralph passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Waukon Veteran Memorial Hospital from pneumonia at the age of 80. He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Joyce and a brother Wallace Peachee. Ralph is survived by 2 sons: Michael Peachee of Garfield, Arkansas and Tom (Teresa) Peachee of Lancaster, California; 2 daughters: Barb (David) Jones of Apple Valley, Minnesota and Denise (Bill) Benda of Monona, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a sister Darlene Hopper of Waterloo. Ralph will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
