note: double marker with Dorothy MAl Abplanalp passed away on Wednesday, May 8; he was 90 years old and a lifelong resident of St. Leon. Al was proud to serve in the Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. While in the Air Force he lived in several different countries and worked as a mechanic on the B-36 bomber. He was married to the love of his life, Dorothy, for 48 years whom he met at a dance in Elizabethtown. They continued their love for dancing by attending many of the local dances throughout their marriage. Al also loved to play euchre and work on his farm. You could often find him riding his tractor, cutting grass, bailing hay or virtually anything that involved being outside.

Al will be greatly missed by his children Tony (Brenda) Abplanalp of Indianapolis, IN, Bill (Katrina) Abplanalp of Wyoming, OH, Anne (Tom) Granat of Mason, OH; his grandchildren Brad, David, Allison, Carson, Elizabeth, Ben, Matt and Thomas; and his sister Betty (Phil) Griswold. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and his brothers and sisters Ruth Hoyer, Leah Mae Johnson, Mary Hoover, Susan Hankins, and George Abplanalp.

Visitation for Al will be on Tuesday, May 14 at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Campus, All Saints Parish with a committal service immediately following.
