David Flatt
CURTIN - The funeral will be held March 25 for David D. Flatt of Curtin, who died March 19 of a heart attack. He was 69.
Flatt was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Earlington, Ky., to Ewing and Anna Brewster Flatt. He married Edith Ludi in Costa Mesa, Calif., in 1961. She later died. He married Dorothy Costin in Drain on April 28, 1977.
He moved to Curtin from Costa Mesa in 1968 and worked at Weyerhaeuser until 1971. Flatt worked as an electrical supervisor for the Springfield School District until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, boating and tooling with leather. Flatt was a member of the American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. in Cottage Grove.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cindy; three stepdaughters, Deanne Crank of California, Carol Carp of Eugene and Susan Derrick of Curtin; three sisters, Alma Burgoyne of Rupert, Idaho, Joretta Parker of Virginia Beach, Va., and Luana Coleman of West Virginia; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Monday's service will be held at 11 a.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Burial will be at Comstock Cemetery in Curtin. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
