Gene Allan Turner Sr. came to Billings in 1966 and worked 12½ years for Billings Hardware, then for Hines Motor Co. He had been deacon and music director at Bethel Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Turner, 52, of 624 Hallowell Lane, died Saturday in St. Vincent Hospital.
Music and handicrafts were his favorite pastimes. Born in Merkel, Texas, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Turner, he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas., in 1945 he married Alice Pollock.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gene Jr. of Shawnee, Okla., and Stephen Wayne of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Lee Ann) Williams of 3544 Marlene Drive and Mrs. Larry (Vickie Sue) of Rock Springs, Wyo.; a sister, Mrs. Bill (Claudia) Pollock, of Fort Worth, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Smith Downtown Chapel with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.
