Halvor Gerhardson changed his last name to Rosaasen after moving to Renville County, Minnesota

Obit: Sacred Heart Newspaper May 26, 1927
Halvor Rosaasen was killed by the afternoon Flyer going west, three miles east of Sacred Heart, Thursday afternoon at about three o'clock.
Mr. Rosaasen had returned from Minneapolis Saturday to spend a short time visiting relatives and friends here.
He had gone to the Bennie Bredeson farm where he stayed until Thursday afternoon when he decided to come to town.
After leaving the Bredeson home he started down the Milwaukee railroad ahead of the Flyer and became confused when the Flyer whistled and stepped in front of the locomotive.
His body was mangled considerably, but was identified by friends.
Mr. Rosaasen, aged 70 years was born in Hurdalen, Norway January 6 1857.
At the age of 12 years he came to America with his parents, settling in Freeborn County about a year before they took up their residence on a farm in section 12 Hawk Creek township.
The deceased had never married, but made his home with his parents and took excellent care of them in their old age.
After their death he took a trip to Norway.
He sold his farm in 1925 and since then has been making his home with his sister, Mrs. Reiten in Sacred Heart, who alone survive him.
The funeral was held at the Synod Church Saturday at 10 o'clock, the Rev. Giere officiating.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were:
Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Skogberg and family,
Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Joyce and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Reiten,
George Reiten
Elmer Midby all of Minneapolis
Mr. and Mrs. Jens Engen of Atwater
Mrs. Rudolph Grasdalen of Albert Lea.
Mr. Rosaasen was a kind and devout man always scrupulously considerate to everybody. The entire community was steeped in sorrow at the news of his sudden departure , but we feel there is great assurance of comfort in the words of Christ saying, "Not a sparrow shall fall on the ground without your Father and who believeth in me shall not die." May the good Lord in Heaven comfort his bereaved kin and relatives.
