KOREAN WAR VETERAN

George S. Raneri of Waltham died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton.

He was the husband of the late Ligouri "Lee" (Getchell) Raneri of Calais, Washington, Maine.

Born and raised in Watertown of Calabrian Italian descent, Mr. Raneri enjoyed events and fun times with his family and good friends. He especially enjoyed daily outings with his son, Greg, and truly enjoyed weekly luncheon dates with his two sisters, Agnes and Mary. He was a homebody and enjoyed the surroundings of his lovely apartment.

He was fond of technology and was an avid Red Sox baseball fan.

He was very proud to have served his country in the Korean War where he received commendations, including the Bronze Star medal. His children expressed how enormously blessed they are to have had him as their Dad.

He leaves two daughters, Bobi Anne Hoglund of Waltham and Lois Demilia of Medford, and three sons, Greg Raneri of Waltham, Waltham Police Officer Ron Raneri of Marlborough and Paul Raneri of Somerset; many grandchildren including his two closest, Michael Grigas of Waltham and Jasmyne Raneri of Roslindale.

Mr. Raneri was the father of the late Gary J. Raneri.
